Chunks Of Hoist @ East Side Rhonda
A likely form of players in the busy east end weapon 'Rhonda' gave birth to a brand new recording entitled simply 'I Know' in the dwindling days of March 2008. Penned not 24hrs before the recording went down it proved 'a very rewarding session' says Carlin of the 6ixty8ights. 'It's been a while since we've got it together that way ..for a song to come together so quickly is about the coolest way to do it' (the last 6ixty8ights recording of the quick churned variety was a now staple 'Happy Half Hearts', another group effort of the amalgamation). This particular track was pressed to the drive in 10 takes and edited over the following weekend. The line up seemed standard maybe excepting one guitar hero (Dave Azzolini aka.'the Juiceski Files) finding his place at the kit instead, and pounding out a Paso Mino inspired galopigus dust storm that keeps you riding long after the meter runs out. It was probably for the best considering Afe Jurvanen of Paso was also present on the session, providing his effortless custom order riffs using his very own spacious tactic. Leon Patterson of the 6ixty8ights rode the plucky flat wound Framus bass as Carlin pressed the new studio organ into it's virgin play.'I really dig the sound of this organ..' (Yamaha YC20) he says, 'we bought it during a week in march when it seemed everyone was going Pauls deep'. Yes..Pauls Deep.a term used by the group to describe sudden and un-shedable urges to "check out Pauls Boutique" located in Kensington Market. This casual suggestion usually ends up in a quick consultation with the monthes remaining funds, a bit of your pals sweet justification and finally a (sometimes hasty more often tasty) purchase, all in the name of the unending 'quest for tone'.
A week and a day following the beds of 'I Know', returning from a month long American tour with band mate Jason Collett, Mike O'brien slipped in some fellow rider riffs and Carlin tracked piano over the choruses. In finale, Jessica and Dave from the G-Dogs bring the end together with some sweet as cane double tracked vocal harmonies bringing the session from 'hmm' to 'well' to 'wow!'. A sound and song that wanders through haunted circus but promises for sweet dreams after and if your spirit permits, a raging a need to ride on (and on).

December 2007 Sessions
6ixty8ights are constantly and relentlessly forging forward in the recording realm with some help from our closest musical friends. There is a fever running hot through our busy production house on east Dundas, and from this musical amalgamation (including members from The Golden Dogs, Paso Mino, Major Grange and more..) is cresting a wave of new sounds and a undeniable fresh collection of tracks. In mid December 2007 all at once and without warning, the seeds of a now legendary set of sessions was planted. With a surprise heavy hitter visit to the bands studio space known as "Rhonda" the gooey sweet touches were put on that moments track "Fever of the Time" and plans were made to assemble the final line that would track the mamoth play-on-words anthem "Lions Pride".The first of a specified two, entitled "Fever of the Time", features Carlin Nicholson on double tracked lead vocal, musical furnace (on max) Mike O'brien for a C.I desert seed reverb solo while Liam Nicholson makes the acoustic guitar flutter in sonic space with the in house 1915 pride piano "Dominion". The harmonies added, in quadro time by Dave Azzolini and Jessica Gracia of the golden Dogs, guitar man Leon Patterson and Taylor Knox of Major Grange, press this songs middle stride image into perfect clarity.
